Dive into the world of renewable energy with us, where every corner of our campus is a testament to the future of sustainable power.
Main Office: A Hub of Innovation
Established in 2006, our two-story main office is more than just a workspace. It houses offices, a boardroom, laboratories, and workshops—all designed with innovation in mind. The workshops are a tinkerer’s dream, equipped with a metal lathe, drill press, and an assortment of tools. Meanwhile, our laboratories are fitted with specialized measuring instruments, including oscilloscopes, an acoustic meter, power meters, a variac, power supplies, and a function generator, to name a few. This combination of facilities supports a wide range of research and development activities in wind energy.
AWTS Guest House: Your Home Away From Home
For visiting scholars, our on-site AWTS Guest House offers cozy and convenient accommodations. This two-story building, originally built in 1981 and renovated in 2006, features four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and ten beds, ensuring a comfortable stay for researchers, students, and interns. With amenities like a kitchen, laundry facilities, and internet access, it’s the perfect place to relax and recharge after a day of innovation.
UNB Facility: Bridging Theory and Practice
Adjacent to our small wind test beds, the University of New Brunswick’s Renewable Energy Technology Research Facility is within the Institute’s grounds. It includes a variable speed test bed capable of testing generators (up to 150 kW), inverters, and energy storage devices in a controlled setting. Unique in its connection to the Institute’s wind turbines, the UNB facility enables findings from lab experiments to be applied directly to real-world scenarios, offering unparalleled opportunities for advancing renewable energy technologies.
