Degree or Program: Electrical Engineering
Effective Date(s): May/2025 – August/2025
Nick is a third-year Electrical Engineering student with a strong interest in grid-scale solutions that support the transition to a net-zero energy future. He is pursuing a career in grid and power operations. For summer 2025, Nick is completing a 3-month Co-op term at WEICAN, where he is researching the integration of Long Duration Energy Storage (LDES) into Prince Edward Island’s electricity system. His work focuses on leveraging the province’s abundant wind resources to reduce curtailment and manage peak demand. The analysis is conducted using the ACES model, a high-resolution capacity expansion tool that simulates the role of energy storage in shaping PEI’s electricity grid over the next 50 years.
