Karen Kinch Retires after 35 years at WEICan

Karen Kinch, Manager of Administration, retired after 35 years of service at the Wind Energy Institute of Canada (WEICan, formerly Atlantic Wind Test Site (AWTS).

On Friday, April 28, WEICan celebrated Karen’s lengthy tenure at the Mill River Resort. When reflecting on her career, Karen stated, “I’m proud of everything AWTS and WEICan have accomplished. In such a small area we have done a lot to promote [wind energy] right across Canada.”

At the celebration, there were messages shared from past WEICan employees and other stakeholders who worked closely with Karen.  WEICan’s CEO Scott Harper presented Karen with a retirement gift on behalf of WEICan’s staff and Board of Directors, noting that Karen’s dedication to WEICan is paramount, and he thanked her for her guidance, leadership and friendship over the years, through some very trying times. Karen served as a leader that was not only a source of historical, administrative, financial, and technical knowledge, but also led by example in creating a welcoming, collaborative environment at WEICan.

WEICan thanks Karen for her service and wishes her all the best in her retirement. WEICan won’t be the same without her!
