David Watson

Wind Integration Researcher

David has a bachelor degree in physics from Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick and a European Masters in Renewable Energy from Loughborough University in the UK. Before coming to the Institute in the fall of 2013, David worked for CIRCE, a research centre in Spain, where he was responsible for developing a micro grid with load response and a control system to integrate advanced grid protections in pre-existing wind farms. His main responsibility at the Institute is the battery storage system which is used for the integration of wind energy into the electricity network. He is excited about the opportunities that PEI has to increase their share of renewable energy and being involved in a project which is working to overcome the problems of intermittency and high ramp rates.

The Wind Energy Institute of Canada advances the development of wind energy across Canada through research, testing, innovation and collaboration.
