WEICan begins Type Testing Leading to Certification on the Zephyr Airdolphin Z1000

The Wind Energy Institute of Canada (WEICan), Canada's leading wind energy research and testing facility, is pleased to announce that the Zephyr Airdolphin Z1000, manufactured in Japan by Zephyr Corporation, will undergo type testing leading to certification, at WEICan's North Cape site. The testing program exists to assist small wind turbine manufacturers certify their turbines under the Small Wind Certification Council (SWCC) and other certifying bodies.

Zephyr Corporation has established a reputation for its performance, quality and reliability from its 12-year experience in over 30 countries. The Airdolphin, an ultra-light turbine rated 1.1kW is the result of a joint industry-government-academia initiative in Japan, combines state-of-the-art technology with Japanese craftsmanship.

Zephyr Corporation has completed contract negotiations with WEICan for testing of their Airdolphin Z1000 wind turbine. The turbine will be installed in January, 2010 and the test period will be one year. Tests will be performed to IEC 61400 standard. Specific tests include; power performance, acoustic noise emissions, duration, safety and functions.
