WEICan begins first “Testing leading to certification” program with Raum Energy Inc. as a result of the RFP

WEICan is pleased to announce that the Raum Energy’s 1.3 kW is the first wind turbine erected of those participating in WEICan’s testing leading to certification program. Tests will be performed to IEC 61400 standard. Specific test include; power performance, power quality (optional), acoustic noise emissions, duration and safety.

Contract negotiations have concluded and the wind turbine was delivered to WEICan. WEICan staff (right) oversaw the erection of the turbine at WEICan on September 19, 2008.

In the fall of 2007 WEICan announced it had allocated $250,000 for Type Testing of small wind turbines and requested proposals from companies that would be interested in participating. Details of the RFP were announced and the closing date for submissions was set for October 31st. Upon completion of the review of applications it was decided to proceed with a detailed testing program with 5 of the original nine applicants. The turbines to be tested range in output capacities from 1.3kW – 66kW.
