Results of assessment of proposals received from wind industry participants regarding WEICan's 'Research, Development and Demonstration' RFP

22 January 2008
On the 15th September WEICan, Canada’s leading wind energy research and testing facility, announced the allocation of up to $200,000 for the purposes of conducting collaborative research, development and demonstration (RD&D) on innovative technology that has significant potential applications for the wind energy industry.

Additional details were published on 30 October at which time it was requested that all proposals be submitted to WEICan by 30 November.

At the close of the submission period WEICan had received a number of innovative RD&D proposals. These applications were reviewed based on both their technical and commercial merits.

Based on the recommendations of that review WEICan has decided to proceed with developing a detailed RD&D program with three of the companies. WEICan is currently negotiating contractual terms with the parties concerned and will announce details of the successful companies once those negotiations are complete
