WEICan attends 'Remote Community Wind Energy Conference'

28-30 November 2007
Scott Harper (CEO) and Paul Dockrill (Technical Director) attended this conference in Tuktoyaktuk in the North in order to learn from other participants about their experiences with DG in remote communities and also to see how best WEICan can assist such communities with RD&D, technical assistance and consultation.

Conference Objectives
1) Provide community leaders with social, economic, environmental and technical information about wind energy
2) Address business and project financing issues
3) Examine design and technical choices for remote arctic communities
4) Identify training and research opportunities
5) Learn from the experience of prior wind energy projects in the far north
6) Facilitate discussion on how to move forward
7) Advancing the concept of a 'Remote Community Wind Incentive Program' and a 'Distributed Energy PPA'
