Wayne Hooper

Wayne Hooper is the Director General Operations at ACOA PEI & Tourism, which includes acting as 2IC for the office and having direct responsibility for the commercial, community, and policy units within the office.
Wayne has also recently served a one year term as Acting Vice-President, ACOA Prince Edward Island and Tourism on behalf of Vice-President Patrick Dorsey, while he was on French language training.
Before joining ACOA, Wayne worked in leadership roles with the Government of Prince Edward Island, including; Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Aquaculture. Wayne’s previous employment experience includes: Business Superintendant for Unit Four School District; Director of Management Services for Hospital and Health Services Commission; founding Chief Executive Officer for the Queen’s Region Health; Acting Vice-President Programs at Holland College; Chief Executive Officer for AVC Inc. at the Atlantic Veterinary College, as well as an Associate for the Executive Council Office carrying out a variety of assignments.
Wayne has extensive finance and policy development experience, especially in the area of intergovernmental affairs, economic and community development. A native Islander, Wayne holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Prince Edward Island (specializing in Economics, Public Finance, and Fine Arts) and is a Chartered Accountant.
Wayne has two grown children and currently lives in Uigg, PEI. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing and travel.
