Wayne MacQuarrie

Wayne MacQuarrie is a professional engineer who graduated from the Technical University of Nova Scotia in 1975 with a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil Engineering) Degree. Since graduation, Mr. MacQuarrie has worked primarily in the field of energy in various locations across Canada.
Prior to joining the PEI government in 1983, Mr. MacQuarrie worked for Montreal Engineering Company Limited in both Montreal and Calgary and Petro Canada in Calgary. Since joining the PEI government, Mr. MacQuarrie has served as:
Director of the Energy and Minerals Branch within the Department of Economic Development and Tourism
Director of Energy, Minerals and Technology within the Department of Development and Tourism; and
Chief Engineer with the Department of Transportation and Public Works and General Manager of the PEI Energy Corporation.
Since 1999, Mr. MacQuarrie has served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Prince Edward Island Energy Corporation, a provincial crown corporation. In 2001, the Corporation built Atlantic Canada's first wind farm which consists of 16 utility grade turbines with a total capacity of 10.56 megawatts.
