Aldéa Landry, CM, PC, QC, is a lawyer and business woman who has been a civil servant with the New Brunswick Department of Justice, a legal practitioner in a law firm that she cofounded, and a Cabinet Minister and Deputy Premier of New Brunswick in the government of Premier Frank McKenna. She is President of LANDAL Inc., a consulting firm based in Moncton New Brunswick offering integrated services in organizational and business development and in International Cooperation. She is also Vice President of Diversis Inc, a consulting firm specializing in immigration and diversity. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Université de Moncton and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of New Brunswick. She is a graduate of the Institute of Corporate Directors. For over 30 years, she has served as an active board member and chair of non-profit and private sector boards in New Brunswick, Canada and abroad. A former chair of the Atlantic Provinces Economic Council (the first woman to occupy that position) and a member of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Canada from 1995 to 2005 and of the Security Intelligence Review Committee from 2005 to 2008, as well as a former Chair of Regional Health Authority A and of the New Brunswick Healthcare Association, Aldéa Landry is recognized for her involvement in the community and in business. She sits on the board of directors of several companies, national and community organisations, including The Shaw Group Ltd, Fraser Papers Inc., The Bragg Group of Companies, the Canadian Investors Protection Fund, Moosehead Breweries Ltd, the Canadian Council on Learning, Care Canada, the Canadian Economic Education Foundation, Accreditation Canada and the Canadian University of Dubai. She is also a member of the Prime Minister Advisory Committee on the Renewal of the Public Service and chairs the capital campaign for the Atlantic Ballet Theatre of Canada. Appointed Queen's Counsel in 1987 (Q.C.) and to the Privy Council of Canada in 2005 (P.C.), she was awarded the Order of Canada in 2006 (C.M.) and holds honorary Doctorate degrees from the University of New Brunswick, the Université de Moncton, Mount Saint Vincent University and Mount Allison University. She also received a Merit Award from the Université de Moncton for her outstanding contribution to the development of the University and the Spiritus Award for her contribution to the advancement of women. In 2003, she was chosen by Progress Magazine as one of 20 Atlantic Canadians who represent the spirit of progress in Atlantic Canada. She was also the recipient, in 2009, of the prix Muriel Fergusson Award created by the Greater Moncton Chamber of Commerce to recognize outstanding women in business and leadership roles. In both 2009 and 2010, she was named Top 100: Canada's Most Powerful Women by the Women's Executive Network.
